During this three month internship, I was able to meet and create art with multiple other artists my age. My supervisor, Anika Kowalik, brought in local artists such as CK Ledesma and Daisa Bryant to present their art and hands-on activities. It also included a trip to MIAD with MIAD B.L.A.C. for an introduction to art school.
We were taught how to provide tours for elementary and middle school students, as well as how to create an engaging activity afterwards. My partner and I gave a tour of the museum to elementary students and created a decorative activity where each person decorates a section of a hat. The final goal of this internship was to create some artwork to place in the art gallery for an open gallery night on December 8th. The artwork I provided was Face Chunks, which was displayed in the museum for about a week. |
Teen Night
Milwaukee Art Museum December 8th, 2022 Face Chunks Acrylic paint, stretched canvas 12" x 24" 2022 This piece shows the outcome of not letting myself be myself. I'm showing the act of pieces of other people I'm trying to base my own identity on, but they keep rotting away. From the from it looks semi-normal, however from the side it shows who I really am under all these layers, me at age 10 doing the things I love rather than what somebody else loves. |
